Creative floor patterns for Red Cross care facility
POLO Architects, that also designed the Red Cross Flanders Headquarters in Mechelen, took on the task and went for a combination of IVC’s Moduleo 55 Impressive and the dynamic Studio Moods series. The result is an LVT floor that partners architectural excellence with all the technical qualities the care sector requires, such as hygiene and general resilience.
Three-coloured hexagons in a circular building
POLO Architects used IVC’s Moods collection in all public areas of the care hotel; the entrance hall, restaurant and corridors: "For these spaces, we needed a floor without a laying pattern. We did not want the floor to imply a sense of direction," interior designer Bea Geboers explains. "Line patterns don’t work in a round building. The hexagon shape of the Moods collection gave us the freedom to have a bit of fun and create a mosaic. Besides the creative pattern, its easy maintenance was also a deciding factor. In the basic collection we chose two colours that we wanted to combine with a third metallic shade, only available in another collection. IVC's inventive and flexible designers were happy to help and together, we developed a three-coloured studio Moods floor in hexagon shape.”
In the rooms themselves, the designers initially wanted to use a dark parquet. Bea Geboers: “Taking ease of maintenance, cost and installation into consideration however, we decided to look for an alternative. IVC’s Moduleo 55 Impressive collection was the perfect solution. Easy to maintain and yet with a natural look and feel.”
