The winner: LayRed 55 – Engineered Vinyl FlooringLayRed 55 is the softest hard floorboard on the market. This floor covering solution was developed for vinyl floors by the IVC Centre of Excellence. Its multi-layered design offers outstanding acoustic properties for renovations and heavily used areas. As a rigid vinyl collection, LayRed 55 is the only floorboard that is solid yet sound-absorbent and comfortable. The floor feels warm underfoot, and the sound-absorbent layer dampens both the sound of footsteps and the transmitted sound by up to 21 dB.
The collection comprises 23 aesthetically appealing designs that are waterproof and extremely scratch- and stain-proof. The core prevents a telegraphing effect, which means that LayRed 55 requires no levelling work and any cracks or joints and unevenness in the substrate can be evened out easily. LayRed 55 is completely phthalate-free and is made of 30% recycled materials. What's more, the floor is completely recyclable. The Design Council will present the winning projects in an exhibition at the Kölnischer Kunstverein from 12 to 19 January 2020, as part of imm cologne 2020.
