A safer surface underfoot for residents

Operated by Tai Wales & West Housing Association and built in 1979, Cwrt Anghorfa is a retirement housing complex of 40 one- and two-bedroom flats for social rent. The site designed to be easily accessible with wheelchairs, has gardens, an on-site hairdressing salon and is a short distance to local amenities. It also offers a regular calendar of social activities for residents from 55 years of age upwards.

In a programme of modernisation throughout Cwrt Anghorfa that saw old carpet tiles replaced, IVC Commercial’s Isafe 70 sheet vinyl safety flooring has been specified. Across 900m2 of public areas and facilities, Isafe 70 was chosen by Tai Wales & West for its ability to deliver unrestricted movement for wheelchairs and a safer surface underfoot for residents, while remaining durable and east to maintain. The American Oak 532 design was selected by Cwrt Anghorfa's residents for its warm and natural oak look.

Designed by residents

Simon Legg, Contracts Manager, Tai Wales & West Housing, says: “Cwrt Anghorfa provides supportive accommodation and a community spirit for residents. As part of this, providing an attractive and welcoming interior in public areas is key. So, when it came to modernising these areas, we wanted to ensure that our practical objectives of accessibility, safety, durability and easy maintenance where matched to a floor finish that would be appealing and supportive to residents. By allowing them to decide on the design of the floor, we’ve also helped them to feel more engaged and connected to the public areas.”
