The quality to affordability ratio of our IVC 55 modular vinyl floors proved hard to beat for the new restaurant of Selby Garden Centre
Adjoining the existing building, the new build Garden Gate Restaurant of Selby Garden Centre, United Kingdom, is a glazed construction with a close connection to the outdoors. Supporting the garden centre’s status as a destination for the local community, the restaurant needed a floor that could fulfil the expectations of visitors while delivering affordability in initial installation and throughout the centre’s ongoing operation.
A connection to nature
With a range of wood and stone look finishes to welcome visitors, the performance of our IVC 55 LVT proved the ideal solution. A mix of 55 Woods Blackjack Oak Chevron 22229, 55 Impressive Country Oak 54880 and 55 Tiles Jura Stone 46956 allows for clear waymarking and use of area definition, while upholding the soothing and calming influence born through our innate connection with nature.
Affordable solution
The floors were specified by Andrew Farr Interiors through the recommendation of Trevor Wharton Contracts. Andrew Farr comments: “The project needed to be delivered on a tight budget and we found the price to quality ratio of IVC Commercial’s 55 LVT hard to better. The brand’s ability to deliver samples quickly also helps when you’re working on a project like this that involves many stakeholders.
“With a building that’s mostly glass you really need to use the floor, not only to make a big visual impact with cues to the intent of the space, but also to guide use of areas, as well as navigation through. IVC Commercial’s 55 LVT had the designs and depth of choice to help us overcome this challenge.”

“For main seating we chose 55 Impressive Country Oak for its authentic textured grain, opting for the slate of Jura Stone around the counter and entrance area to disguise dirt tracked in from the garden centre and clearly mark the function of these areas. We used the herringbone of Chevron Blackjack Oak to add extra interest in supplemental seating areas.”
The natural look remains faithful to the focus of the garden centre, while the performance of the floor is ideal for a demanding leisure and retail venue. Featuring a 0.55mm wear layer for longevity and equipped with scratch and stain resistant Protectonite® for less maintenance, IVC 55 can withstand intensive use. Made with 50% recycled content, IVC 55 specification floors are efficiently made in Europe with renewable energy.
