Commercial performance to a homely feel
With an objective to achieve a durable, care-grade flooring solution that also offered residential character, Jonathan Stewart Design has specified 2,500m2 of Iperform 70 compact heterogeneous vinyl flooring from IVC Commercial for hallways and bedrooms. The floor was chosen collaboratively with the client, including reviewing samples and a mock-up area to make the final selection.
Iperform 70 strikes the balance between commercial performance standards and creating a warm, domestic feel. The floor’s 0.70mm wear layer achieves Class 34 very heavy commercial use, while Hyperguard+ and Sanitec® aid maintenance and improve hygiene. It is available in a wide range of designs including wood plank and herringbone, concrete, terrazzo and colour effects.
Safe and accessible spaces
With Jonathan Stewart Design focusing on ease of maintenance, slip resistance and compatibility with infection control requirements, Iperform 70 certainly met its performance requirements, letting the practice confidently choose from any of its designs. Wood-effect finishes where chosen to create a homely feel, with tonal variation used across different zones to assist with wayfinding and to add visual interest. The neutral base ensures flexibility for future redecoration and furniture schemes.
The installation was carefully managed with special attention paid to the subfloor and transitions to ensure the safe and unrestricted movement of residents. Iperform 70 has helped St Joseph’s Care Home to bridge the gap between healthcare and hospitality design.
