Armonéa chooses harmonious design for its new residential care centre Val Mosan

Armonéa recently built an architecturally stunning, new residential care centre, right beside the brand-new Clinique du MontLégia in Liège, which will open in 2020. Val Mosan offers an idyllic, tranquil setting where 178 residents can enjoy old age.

The building, which has two and even three floors in some places, has a surface area of 10,020 m². It winds along a central patio and public square like a ribbon. Val Mosan also provides underground parking for 35 cars.

Smart and stylish design

The residential care centre has a very light appearance thanks to the muted colour palette of the façade plastering. This finish also provides optimum insulation, without thermal bridging. The building’s vinyl floors also contribute to the entire building’s performance, as vinyl is an excellent insulator, taking sustainability to the next level.

Withstanding the test of time

When the architect Martine Geusens was looking for materials for the interior, she soon found the Belgian brand IVC. “A safe, hard-wearing floor is vital in a nursing home, to prevent residents from slipping or falling. This is why I became interested in Moduleo 55 Woods, which is produced in Belgium. This LVT flooring solution has a thick wear layer, making it the perfect option for commercial applications. It’s also easy to clean, which is a big advantage, especially in healthcare sector. The easier the building is to maintain, the more time the staff can spend on the residents. And its Verdon Oak 24232 looks nice too!”

“IVC’s Verdon Oak ticked all the boxes: it’s hard-wearing, durable, easy to maintain and stylish, of course!”

Martine Geusens, architect

Another important factor, in addition to the floor’s technical qualities and appearance, was IVC’s service. “The collaboration was very efficient”, says Martine. “Our project managers at IVC kept an eye on things at their end, ensuring that everything was delivered on time.”
